Research and Planning: Photoshop Experiment

Due to me not having my proper pictures yet, I decided to do a Photoshop Experiment with some of my test shots to see what works and what doesn't. This will be helpful in the long run when doing my Poster and Magazine.

Original image.

I blurred out the background and darkened it and contrasted the colour to make it a more green/blue colour. I did this to make the foreground image of the model stand out more. I have toned down the brightness and saturation of the model and this is the first screenshot of my process.

On this I added different colour and temperatures to the blurry background to add more depth, I think I may tone this down as it doesn't represent 'Horror' but I like the dimension because it is quite bizarre. I duplicated the foreground layer and made it blurry, I'm not sure if I like this effect as of yet.

I decided to take away the blurry effect as I thought due to the background being blurry it was too much. I added a scratch effect and a drop shadow to the image to make it look more eerie, I plan on playing around with the scratchy effect and the question mark across his mouth.
